About Well Faire
Principal Psychologist, Justine Knott has been a psychologist for 25 years, working with children and young people with many different problems.
The mission of Well Faire is to equip children and young people to become their best selves. We work with children and young people from 0-18 years of age, and their families. We provide clinic sessions, school visits and telehealth consultations.
We support children under NDIS, TAC, Medicare and Victims of Crime.
Our approach
We approach therapy with children and young people with openness and respect. Children learn through play, acting out, art and story. When they are able, they can talk through their problems. We listen and we observe. Using a client-centred approach, we come to problems from the point of view of the child, and of the family. We engage children in approaches tailored to them based on their needs. Children will show us what they need if we listen and understand their behaviour.
“Children have the strengths within them to defeat their problems, they just need help to discover them”
Therapy isn’t about curing or treating, it is a collaborative process that occurs when a child or young person truly connects with the psychologist and feels safe and secure in the relationship.
Our approaches include play therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, relaxation, and mindfulness. We use games to help children learn skills such as taking turns and sharing. We read stories and make social stories to help children learn how to cope with challenges. When we use narrative therapy, we include children by respecting their unique language, stories, and views of the world.
At Well Faire we use positive psychology and solution-focused techniques.
“Children are resilient and brave. They have an amazing capacity to develop and grow.”
Optimism and hope is at the core of our work. What we do is embedded in the philosophy of a growth mindset. We also focus on strengths and abilities rather than disability.
