Therapeutic interventions

We provide counselling therapy and interventions to children, young people and their families.

The therapeutic relationship between the psychologist and the child is critical to the success of therapy. We create a safe connection that gives the child a sense of safety and a base for developing their skills.

Interventions work best with children when we involve the parents and sometimes siblings, if relevant. For younger children, this may mean bringing the parent into the therapy room for some or all of a session. We may talk about family goals or problem-solve issues that are happening at home or school.

Counselling sessions are confidential for adolescents. However, parents are included when appropriate, with the young person’s consent. There are limits to confidentiality, in the case of self-harm or harm to others.
